Comparing John Locke s Views On Political Systems
Compare and Contrast John Locke was a scholar who lived from 1632-1704. Locke worried about the absence of limitations on sovereign authority. As a man that was pro government for the people, he viewed politics as for the people or the people shall revolt. In stark contrast, Thomas Hobbes, who lived through much turmoil as well from 1588-1679, such as a civil war in Britain which lasted from 1642-1648 thought a sovereign leader was the only way to protect society from itself (Riemer, Simon, and Romance, 2014). Two noteworthy scholars which lived in such close time periods had vastly differing views on politics. Locke and Hobbes both had differing views on political systems similar to modern day nations have differing political systems. Today, two powerful nations have similar governments representing two differing political systems. The United States of America has a President which is elected by the people every four years and England has a Queen who has been in power for more than 60 years by right of her family bloodline. John Locke John Locke was a scholar during the mid-seventeenth century in England and staunchly denounced tyranny. In fact, through his influential writings the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) (2015) stated that Locke ââ¬Å"expressed the radical view that government is morally obliged to serve people, namely by protecting life, liberty, and property. That school has a lot of meaning to the neighborhood because Luis Armstrong himself used to live there. They have his house on 1st which is pretty close to 21st. That is a very important landmark. He was a very famous Jazz musician. Back then 21st was the neighborhood to many Jazz listeners. The Louis Armstrong House was the home of Louis Armstrong and his wife Lucille between 1943 and 1971.His wife gave the house to the city so they could create a museum out of their home when Luis Armstrong passed away. They kept the furnishings exactly how Mr.. Armstrong left them, which makes that house/museum very valuable. You can go In for the fee of ten dollars and get a 40 minute tour of his whole house.
